Tuesday, 28 June 2011

Below is the outline of a job opportunity with a high calibre tax software company, currently looking for a corporate tax trained (ACA / ACCA / CTA) Tax Senior / Assistant Manager to transfer into working on the IT-Tax development and functionality of a tax software product.

Corporate Tax Senior / Supervisor - refocus your career into tax software
London Region £40,000 - £50,000 + Bonus + Bens

Have you trained in corporate tax on the ACA or CTA route? Are you now looking for an alternative career direction? You may wish to consider an excellent opportunity within the tax software sector. Our client is recognized as a market leader in tax compliance software, their products used by an extensive list of accounting firms and corporations. They are currently looking for a Corporate tax specialist to join their existing highly successful tax development team. This challenging and fulfilling role’s key responsibility is to keep abreast of latest legislative changes and identify their impact on the suite of tax software products. This will then lead on to modelling the relevant calculations and designing the inputs and reports which will be used by the tax professional end user. In addition, you will also provide ad hoc tax technical support to the client service and sales teams and implement enhancements to the software based on client feedback. To match the requirements of this role, you will ideally be:

• ACA or CTA qualified with a corporate tax training, either gained within a practice firm or commercial in-house tax role.
• Have UK corporate tax compliance experience, and preferably with user experience of corporate tax software, such as Alphatax or Abacus.
• Having experience of tax accounting will be an added advantage.
• In addition, you will be tax technically proficient, have a keen eye for detail, and be able to run with a project to conclusion with minimal supervision.
• It should be noted that no previous software development skills are required.

This is an excellent opportunity for an IT-savvy tax trained professional to make a first step into software development.

Arrival of Recruitment Diversity website

Thursday, 16 June 2011

Ex-colleague of mine Chris Bale, who set-up the tax jobs site eTaxJobs and formerly a Partner with recruitment firm The SR Group, has recently launched the Recruitment Diversity website. As the name suggests, the site is to provide information to the UK recruitment industry on diversity issues.

I asked Chris to tell me some more about it:

"I set up RecruitmentDiversity because the recruitment market in Europe is some way behind the US in terms of practices and values, when it comes to diversity issues. RecruitmentDiversity is a membership site and recruitment consultants, search firms, employers and job boards who join are demonstrating to their customers and the general public their commitment to open, fair and embracing recruitment practices. We publish articles about diversity in recruitment and will be encouraging discussions both on the site and our LinkedIn Group."
