Currently seeking out a personal tax / private client tax specialist to develop into high level transaction advisory projects for super-wealthy individuals:

Tax Manager - Private Client Tax Advisory
London | £50,000 - £68,000 + Bens + promotion opportunities

Our client is a truly global organisation with a strong brand image and reputation worldwide.  They are a leading tax advisory practice for high net worth individuals and their businesses.  The team focused on advisory projects for HNW private clients now seeks ‘up and coming talent’ in the personal tax arena to work on pure tax planning & transactions projects.  This is an opportunity for people that have trained and qualified in personal tax, have already moved on to advising HNW clients on tax planning issues, most likely operating at Manager level or the level just below, and are now looking to take the next step forward within the London market.
This role will involve:
  • Providing tax technical advice in relation to transactions for individual shareholders, including management buy-outs, refinancing, second and tertiary buy-outs, trade sales, start-ups and qualifying EIS investments.
  • Advising on the structuring of funds from a personal tax perspective including advice on the acquisition of carry and appropriate reporting on the realisation of funds.
  • The opportunity to think creatively around individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies whilst working in a strongly commercial environment.
  • Development of client relationships and new client opportunities.
  • Working with a team of specialists and the opportunity to work with a wide variety of other tax and corporate finance teams.

To match up to the challenges of this opportunity, you will be professionally qualified (ACA or CTA), and will have trained within a personal tax environment.  You will have already had a minimum 3-5 years’ of client handling tax experience.  You will have developed a detailed understanding of capital taxes, you will have a good understanding of taxation of partnerships, and other tax planning methods for HNW sector.
You will be ambitious, looking to work on high-end tax projects and looking to prosper in a very meritocratic and market leading practice.

Currently talking to a couple of VAT systems teams experiencing high demand for their expertise, and now looking to hire VAT Advisers to move and refocus into the growth VAT technology and tax engine market.

ERP-VAT Consultant

Do have a background in VAT compliance / reporting? Possibly you are now looking to move out of VAT practice and into a more IT / software based career? If you are answering Yes to these questions, then this could be a great opportunity to find the niche that suits your skills and progress your career into tax technology and systems.

Based in London and with occasional UK / European travel, this client-facing role will work with large-end companies and multinationals for analysing and implementing enhanced VAT compliance systems. Your role will be to use your VAT compliance and process knowledge to analyse a group company’s VAT compliance, reporting & filings process, then to work on a roll-out of a software solution (configuring with a client’s accounting / SAP / ERP systems) to end-users within the company’s finance or tax function. You will also help to provide the necessary training to end-users and support on the products.

As a first move into this VAT systems role, you will have had a good grounding in VAT compliance, either in a VAT compliance services firm or in industry / shared service centre with a multinational. You will have a good appreciation of how accounting systems (e.g. SAP / JDE) are set-up and used to generate VAT data and compliance, good priority and project management experience, and will have strong skills on Excel or with software generally. Knowledge around SQL or other database systems is not essential but would be advantageous in this role.
Aside from English, other EU language skills (e.g. German / Italian) would also be desirable.

IT Systems Lead - Tax
London | £55,000 - £65,000 + Bens

Our client is a leading professional services firm with a very strong brand name and global reach.
An opportunity has arisen within their group IT Delivery team for a lead Manager to manage end-to-end delivery of tax systems programs for the tax business.  This challenging role will interact directly with senior decision makers on IT projects, and will have overall responsibility for scoping of projects and cost estimations, organisational change, project delivery and maximising on the firm’s processes.
Key aspects of the role are:
  • End-to-end delivery of programs and projects within the tax business lines
  • Provide oversight, project management and business analysis on each project
  • Assisting on development of the business case for system changes and leading on estimates
  • Delivering on solutions, making optimal use of shared resources (IT, enterprise tools, data systems)
  • Provide some support and incident management
This is a key IT service delivery role within a global organisation.  You will therefore require certain skill areas and in-depth understanding of projects to match the requirements of the role.  These include:
  • Excellent understanding of customer strategy (i.e. strategic use of tax systems within accountancy firms) and business processes
  • Very good grasp of operating within a global professional services firm and / or corporate IT environment
  • Demonstrated project / or program management experience
  • Good experience around applications and IT infrastructures
  • Experience of managing people and co-ordination of project teams
In terms of educational and qualifications background, it would be advantageous to have a degree in Computer Sciences or a related discipline.  It would also be highly beneficial to hold a certification in project management (e.g. PMI / PRINCE2) or ITIL qualified. These are desirable features, but not essential.
This role is based in London with some level of UK / international travel when required.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a highly professional and proactive corporate IT team, and to get excellent exposure to the working of an international tax practice.

VAT Systems - seeking Senior Project Leaders

Currently working on some experienced level and progressive roles for Managers / Senior Managers within VAT systems and indirect tax engine market, based in UK (London).  Looking for that rare combination of VAT process knowledge, SAP know-how and client consulting experience.

Below describes one such role we are currently searching on:

VAT systems - Client Project Leader
London | £70,000 - £85,000 + Bonus + excellent Bens package

Our client is a well established, specialist tax consultancy with a successful and profitable long term history. They already have an enviable client base, typically FTSE 100 groups, Europe-wide listed and large private organisations. They are now looking to strategically build up further their VAT systems & technology service offering with the addition of a Senior Manager level consultant within this continued growth sector in the systems market. This new role, based in London, will work within a well established indirect tax systems project team assessing clients’ VAT systems and processes and then proposing on a variety of system enhancements and improvements, sometimes involving implementations of new tax technology software e.g. tax engine bolt-ons e.g. Sabrix or Vertex.  Other projects can involve improvements of how clients are using SAP or other accounting systems for VAT determination and compliance.
To meet the challenges of this specialist role, you will have strong client facing consulting experience in the tax arena, preferably with VAT compliance project experience.  You will be comfortable at talking with senior-end client contacts (e.g. CFO / Head of Tax / VAT Director) on the challenges they face on international VAT compliance and accuracy issues, confident and knowledgeable to suggest new methods and technology available in the market.  In addition, you will have strong project management experience when working on active client engagements.  Ideally you will have come from a Big 4 tax / indirect tax background, operating at Manager / Senior Manager level, possibly mixed with in-house EU / international VAT compliance or planning experience within a large multinational.
Strong future promotion prospects exist for high calibre performers.
