Our client is a leading business software & technology provider, with global operations and a truly market leading position.  The company now seeks a VAT Compliance Accountant / Analyst with strong IT skills to transition their career into a tax software developer role.
Based in London, the main scope of the role is to analyse and required make changes to the work papers, returns, and reports supported by the software, with exposure to Indirect tax regimes across the globe.
Responsibilities include:
- Updating and make modifications to existing technical tax content in accordance with written specifications.
- Carry out testing to ensure application meets needs of client and business.
- Translate technical requirements and design documentation into software tax templates.
- Provide technical support to implementation team and the client help desk.
- Liaise with technology and content providers.
- Make suggestions for problem solutions or software enhancements, which will typically be reviewed by a more senior developer.
- Work as a member of the project team or as part of a specialist cross-project team on multiple developments.
Your background:
You will have trained in accounting / tax within the last 5 years and will have specialised at an early stage in VAT / Indirect taxes, currently working in a compliance role, preferably with a large / multinational group.  You will be using Excel (possibly involving pivot tables / v-look ups) to assist on VAT returns, and you may use more dedicated VAT compliance software.  You may be based in the in-house tax team of the company, or based within a finance shared service centre in the UK or Europe.  You will currently be operating at VAT Assistant / Accountant / Analyst level, and now looking for a change of career direction.
In addition, you will have the ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently, have good communication and interpersonal skills, and with a genuine interest in computing and technology.
